Trending New York Apartment

The beautiful 1920's apartment is located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Stephen Sills designed the sprawling interior space with a mixture of contemporary design and classical French pieces. The interior looks restored but was completely gutted and redesigned due to extensive electrical and plumbing changes. The owners of the property have three children and are also avid art collectors. The couple wanted their space to be glamorous and warm for entertaining but didn't want it to be trendy. They also wanted a large open floor plan that wouldn't obstruct any of the views outside the apartment. Stephen convinced them to stay with the original layout of the space which in turn made the apartment more cozy and functional. Every space has it's own character and feel to it which is why I love the apartment.
Many of the interior trim pieces throughout the home are gilded and glazed. Many high end features included hand made wall treatments, custom furniture and fabrics pieces. The most memorable piece in their home would definitely have to be the ruby-red stainless steel disk that is hung above their fireplace in the dining room.

A Pablo Picasso art piece, The Sills designed club chair, and the bronze Ginkgo chairs by Claude Lalanne.

Artwork by Keith Tyson, and the Cocchia cocktail table.

Artwork by Anish Kapoor is above the fireplace, walls are hand painted and embossed leather panels, and the chairs are from the 19th Century from Russia. The upholstery on the seats are blue horse hair.

The other side of the dining room features a beautiful 1940's French chandelier.

Artwork is done by Henri Matisse, and the bench at the end of the bed is from Sweden and dates back to the 19th century.

The three floral paintings are done by Vik Muniz, the day bed is designed by Sill'd, and the far left painting was done by Gedi Sibony.

This children bedroom is all custom made and features fabrics from Shumacher and Castel.

The other child's bedroom features the Saarinen womb chair and ottoman, while the bed is designed by Sills.
